In this new episode of “À table avec La Cantine pour tous,” Mireille Jetté, deputy executive director of La Cantine pour tous and host of the series, welcomes Lisa Faucher, deputy executive director of Moisson Beauce, the regional food bank that supports nearly 50 organizations in Chaudière-Appalaches.

Together, they talk:

  • changes in food security needs;

Every month, Moisson Beauce supports nearly 6,000 people, a third of whom are children. For its team, providing school meals is about much more than just feeding children: it’s about enabling every child to grow, learn, and thrive without having to bear the burden of their family’s financial struggles.

  • the importance of serving meals directly at school, so that children can eat with their friends without being stigmatized;
  • the expansion of “Dinner for Better Learning” and its integration into the La Cantine dans les écoles program;
  • the importance of making school meals accessible to all children, regardless of their family's financial situation.

Today, “Dinner for Better Learning” serves eight schools, including four as part of the La Cantine dans les écoles program. This partnership allows the organization to continue growing, but more importantly, to reach more children and offer them much more than just a meal: the opportunity to learn, socialize, and fully experience their daily lives at school.
