Founded in 1969 by a small group of people committed to finding employment opportunities for people with disabilities in their region, the private, nonprofit corporation Témabex Inc. began operations in Rouyn-Noranda in 1974.
Originally specializing in the manufacture of various wooden items and later in the production of canoes, boats, and other fiberglass products, Témabex Inc. has specialized in housekeeping services since 1982. In 2013, the building was expanded to include a venue rental service. In addition, the company supports the employment of several people with disabilities through external subcontracting.
