Le Garde-Manger Pour Tous is a social enterprise that has been actively involved in its community since 1985. The organization was born of a desire to alleviate hunger and promote self-sufficiency in Montreal's southwest region. Every school day, the Garde-Manger Pour Tous provides over 3,000 hot, balanced lunches to elementary school students in 30 schools, 75% of whom come from underprivileged backgrounds. In this way, Garde-Manger Pour Tous is helping to curb undernutrition among many children at a time when their nutritional needs have a crucial impact on their development. The nature of its activities also includes the annual distribution of 200,000 kg of foodstuffs to some twenty community organizations. In addition, through a number of social and professional integration programs, the Garde-Manger Pour Tous encourages the autonomy of adults in precarious situations.
