Affordable meals delivered to your door: La Cantine à domicile is coming to the Bas-Saint-Laurent region

MONTREAL, Sept. 9, 2026

La Cantine pour tous continues to roll out its La Cantine à domicile program with its expansion into the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. Thanks to a partnership with Different Cooks, More than 1,500 households in the municipalities of Padoue, Price, Sainte-Angèle-de-Mérici, and Saint-Octave-de-Métis will now be able to order affordable, locally prepared frozen meals delivered directly to their homes.

A simple solution for eating well at home

La Cantine à domicile is a service for ordering frozen meals prepared by social economy enterprises. Already available in eight regions of Quebec—Montreal, Laval, the Laurentians, Montérégie, Outaouais, Capitale-Nationale, Chaudière-Appalaches, and, now, Bas-Saint-Laurent—the program makes it easy to order meals by phone or online and have them delivered directly to your home.

The program is designed for anyone who wants to simplify meal preparation, particularly older adults. Meals are prepared locally using high-quality ingredients to provide a convenient, nutritious, and affordable solution.

The service also includes a subsidized pricing option, available upon referral from a partner organization, intended for individuals age 55 or older who are experiencing economic vulnerability.

A Concrete Response to the Challenges of an Aging Population

An aging population is one of the major challenges of the coming years. In this context, access to affordable meals is a key factor in supporting seniors’ independence and helping them remain in their own homes.

“We are very pleased to continue expanding La Cantine à domicile in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. Thanks to our partnership with Les Cuisiniers Différents, more people will have access to high-quality meals that make their daily lives easier and allow them to stay in their own homes longer,”
emphasizes Benoist de Peyrelongue, chairman of the board of directors of La Cantine pour tous.

A partnership with a well-established social enterprise

The success of La Cantine à domicile relies on a network of social enterprises that understand the realities of their communities.

Les Cuisiniers Différents is a social enterprise in the Montérégie region whose mission is to promote the social and professional integration of people living with an intellectual disability or an autism spectrum disorder, while providing high-quality meals. In its home region, the organization is already a partner of La Cantine pour tous for the La Cantine dans les écoles and La Cantine à domicile programs.

Already active in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region since the start of the 2025 school year through their own school lunch program, Les Cuisiniers Différents joined the La Cantine dans les écoles program in January 2026. They are now putting their culinary expertise to work for seniors in the region by also becoming partners in the La Cantine à domicile program.

“For several years now, we have been committed to providing high-quality meals that meet the needs of our community while creating opportunities for social and professional integration for people living with intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorders. We are very pleased to now be putting our expertise to work for seniors in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region through La Cantine à domicile and to be helping, alongside La Cantine pour tous, to make food more accessible in our region.”
Chantal Pagé, founder and executive director of Les Cuisiniers Différents

“This new location once again demonstrates the strength of the La Cantine pour tous model. By partnering with social economy enterprises already present in the communities, we are improving access to high-quality food while strengthening local services in Quebec,”
Thibaud Liné, General Manager of La Cantine pour tous.

A rapidly growing program

Operating in several regions of Quebec for over six years, La Cantine à domicile has already made it possible to:

  • more than 31,000 orders delivered;
  • more than 5,300 people who have benefited from the program;
  • nearly 200 active referral coordinators in the health, social services, and community sectors;
  • a network of social economy partners operating in several regions of Quebec.

The expansion into the Bas-Saint-Laurent region marks a new phase in the provincial development of La Cantine à domicile.

Those interested can now order their meals online at commander.lacantinepourtous.org/livraison or by phone. Professionals in the health care, social services, and community sectors can also review the referral guidelines and submit an application for individuals eligible for the subsidized pricing program at lcpt.ca/ts.
